Got into karaoke a few years ago at the urging of fellow karaoke buddy Cameron one drunken night at Mitch's in A2, and have been pretty much hooked ever since. It's a great way to overcome fears of public speaking and public humiliation at the same time!

karaoke favorites
Blondie is probably my all-time favorite karaoke standby, particularly "Rapture." I also love "Hair" band anthems by bands like Skid Row, Whitesnake, Aerosmith, and Guns 'Roses, "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane, and too many songs from the 1980s to count. I try to stay away from typical girlie favorites like Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Bonnie Tyler and Heart, but I occasionally cave into special requests by friends. Never say never when it comes to karaoke! I envy gals who can do a great Janis Joplin or Dusty Springfield, since I so lack the vocal chops (and two-pack-a-day cigarette habit) to even dream of pulling it off. More often than not, I tend to let my mood drive my song choices, not pleasing the crowds, though sometimes I get lucky. I've reached the point where I no longer need to be drunk to get up there and sing, which I'm not sure is a good thing. My song choices can be very strange...I've been thinking of doing Alan Parsons Project sometime soon. And I'm still seeking someone who can do Extreme's "More Than Words" with me as a duet. My ultimate karaoke dream is a smoke-free venue. Maybe one day that will come true!
